�The Sailor Boy�s Tale� is a story with an obvious moral. This is the old adage �what goes around comes around.� Many times in this story, situations arise in which this clich� is apparent. This saying applies to much of life, and this story does a wonderful job of showing how often this comes up. The story opens with a scene that supports this clich�.
The boy sees a bird struggling to free itself from a bundle of rope it has become hung up in. he encountered a girl who was near his age. She admired his piece of fruit. The boy at once decided to do the manly thing and offer his prize piece of fruit to the young lady. In turn she offered him a kiss. Once again establishing the �what goes around comes around saying.�
The next situation that portrays this saying is when the man tries to stop the boy from going to see the girl again. The drunken Russian man who had given the boy a ride from his ship to the mainland hours earlier wouldn�t let the boy past on his journey to see his young acquaintance. The boy made several attempts to free himself from the giant mans clutches, but they all proved to be futile. The boy was left with just one option, to use force. The boy removed his knife from his pocket and proceeded to jab it into the man's side. The boy didn�t intend to kill the man but it was revenge for the man stopping him from going to see the girl again. This action once again proves that �what goes around comes ...
