Desire
Every person in this world feels the necessity of been loved at least one time in their life. Blanche feels this necessity and she tried to make herself loved but she has failed. Blanche arrives in New Orleans in a streetcar with only one desire; to find someone who would love her. Her sister, Stella, was her only family member left; and Blanche goes to her in order to find a solution for her problems. Blanche lives in a world of illusions that she uses to hide from the real world.

Blanche now lives in a mansion with too many rooms that she cannot fill. In her necessity of being loved she becomes a prostitute hoping that one of the gentlemen that she works for, love her. Also she seduces a seventeen-year-old boy. This causes more problems for the poor Blanche. She was now jobless; so at this point in her life Blanche has lost everything except for her little sister. She was her only hope to begin a new life.
The first encounter we see between Blanche and Stella was not good at all. Blanche starts criticizing the conditions in which Stella lives. Blanche wants the best for her sister and she does not want that her sister to suffer the way she did.
