Definition and description

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) affects approximately 5% of school age children. It contributes to poor school performance, conduct disorders, and difficulties in family and friend relationships.
ADHD is characterized by inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity.
Boys are three times more likely to develop ADHD than girls
Symptoms of ADHD usually arise between the ages of three to five but are most prominent in the elementary school grades.
