Governor Berkeley, the man in charge of running Virginia in the
representation of the interests of the Virginia Company had total control
of this colony since he was there and the Virginia company was in England.
Due to Having this power for more than thirty years was able to dominate
all of the colony�s politics. Due to having this power he was able to
dominate the fur trade with the Native Americans through the security of a
monopoly, the power of giving the most prestigious land to his personal
favorites or friends in any amount, not to mention his own plantations.
