Baseball Narrative

Target Field

June 19th, 2010 was a day that has been forever etched into my brain. The game that was to be played at Target Field was Eden Valley-Watkins High versus Sebeka High, in the Class 1A State Championship Game. I was chalked up to be the starting pitcher of the EV-W Eagles. Becoming state champions at Target Field has forever changed the way I think about my abilities as an athlete, and as a person.
The journey down to Target Field was a magical ride. Sightseeing is what I basically did the ride down, as it was a gorgeous June morning. The shimmer of the skyscrapers were almost blinding as the summer sun caught it. Not even the slightest grass clipping was out of place, ...

a strong odor of newness. It�s a hard scent to describe, but just by a couple sniffs of the nose, you can tell the building was just recently built. Everything I saw was clean and if I tried I don�t think I could find an ounce of dust anywhere. To capture the moment, I whipped out my cell phone and took tons of pictures of the different rooms that average people don�t get to see every day.
Finally we arrived in our locker room. I expected it to be the luxurious locker room that the Minnesota Twins players call home, but we got a small locker room with everything but luxury. The locker room was empty except for a couple lockers, and six showers. After I put my bag in the corner nearest the door, I followed my coach to the home team dugout. I opened up the door and climbed up 8 stairs and finally walked into to the dugout. At that very moment I realized that heaven does exist, and its location is �351-413 5th Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN� � Target Field.
