Richard Wright grew up in the deep-south, full of racism and violence. His situations as a kid through his teenage years influenced his life as an adult. Racism played a major role in shaping the life of Richard Wright. Rebellion was also part of Richards life and that�s how he felt about the society he lived in. His mother showed Richard how to be an adult, but he did not always make the right decisions. Richard�s life was influenced by these situations.

handed Richard a stick. Richard, scared and terrified, went back down the street to the store and saw the same group of kids. Richard started to swing the stick like a crazy man and hit those kids in the head. His mother showed Richard how to stand up for himself and that anything is possible.
Another influence on Richard�s life was when a cat was meowing outside their house. Richards�s dad was sleeping at the time and he hated to be bothered. So Richard and his brother were afraid of waking up their dad and tried to quiet down the kitten. Richard�s dad then told them to shut that cat up or kill it if you have to. Richard knew that his father was being sarcastic, be he told his brother he was going to kill the cat. So Richard, thinking he found a way to rebel against his father and not being punished, took a rope and tied it into a noose. Then he put the cat�s neck into the noose and hanged the kitten.
