Blaze of Glory is a fantasy novel. In this novel, the elements of fantasy include adventure, made up places, magic and made up creatures. The following essay will consider how effectively the novel demonstrates the elements of the fantasy genre.

The novel includes an adventure or quest. Unlike many other fantasy novels, the main character, Aubrey, decides to go on the quest; he is not chosen. During the quest, the trio encounter the 'Burnt Church', a shell of a cathedral "dark against the night, standing alone on the top of the hill like an abandoned sentinel. " The graveyard "was a jumble of fallen headstones and the remains of tombs on the far side of the hill." "Aubrey frowned as his magical awareness came across traces of magic everywhere he looked."
