Bluff Creek Analysis

The goal of this research was to discover the insects and creatures moving and living about in the Bluff Creek reservoir. We took the trip to Bluff Creek to study the abiotic and biotic factors that are affecting Bluff Creek water. We aren’t the first people to do this as there has been and still is undergoing constant research going into the Bluff Creek reservoir due to other classes. The best example of that is Riley Purgatory Bluff Creek Watershed group. Established in 1969, they are devoted to do constant and valuable research on these types of water to make sure they are staying healthy and clean for the wildlife.

The biotic factors that were tested was the finding of Insects and other wildlife within the stream. From what we found the overall index score came to 2.33 which comes out to a decent score in the stream. The wildlife found were the following: Dragonfly larva, Leech, Scud, and Damselfly larva. The stream we can see is moderately healthy because of the life found inside. If it was an unhealthy stream, the wildlife would not be able to survive. Finding the wildlife there shows it is able to thrive in the conditions present. To get our results we broke the categories of the wildlife into 2-4 groups and calculated the total animals and the total value which gave us our number of 2.33.
