I learned a lot from this book, but there is one thing that stood out the most: don't judge a book by its cover. Throughout the book Carly, the main character, sees Dustin like everybody else does: sometimes he is a wild kid with no future, and sometimes he is all closed up and not talking. After the interviewing assignment she finds out something different about him...something miserable. Carly wants to push away all the thoughts about Dustin, but as the time passes she finds the "real Dustin" under the mask he was hid behind for all those years.
