Childern of the Holocaust

Over 1 million children were killed during the Holocaust. They were tortured, murdered, and often fell ill with diseases. When a child would end up in the Death Camps, they were often killed on the spot.
The most horrid part of the killing was the torture, Germans would use pressure chambers and drugs, and the children would also freeze to death. One Nazi, Josef Mengele, was well known for the torture of children. He was very interested in twins. Mengele would draw sketches of the twins; he later would use these to compare them. We know about one family�s experiences in hiding through Anne Frank�s diary. On her 13th birthday, Anne�s mother gave her a diary, soon after the family moved into hiding. The hiding place was located in an empty section of Otto Frank�s company. It was soon concealed behind a movable bookcase. Anne often writes of the experiences of the family in her precious diary. In 1944, the family was betrayed by a family friend, which led to them being found shortly after by a SS-Officer. They were then moved to concentration camps.
