Children�s short stories have been dated back to mid evil time and farther that that, and many readers make the assumption that its just for children. Yet when you look deeper in the text, and understand the true meanings of what the author is writing about it stretches farther then a story to teach children a lesson. A child gets a certain meaning or has a certain response to the text, yet so do adults who could get a deeper meaning out of it, like (religion, love, life situations, or role reversals in a house hold). These stories have played a pivotal point in a child�s growth in there child hood years, having short stories read to them for entertainment, and as a vice for them to go to sleep. All of these things sound nice, pretty, and innocent yet these stories only touch on a few authors out there.

There are authors like Hanns Christian Anderson who like to add a little religion in his stories. Adding in Christian values that he based allot of his stories on, which some may have not gotten or realized at the time of reading. A story that stands out the most is the little match girl, it has a little something for both audiences children, and parents. For the children it shows them to be grateful for things that they have and the position they are in. Yet there seems to be authors who write short stories for adults and children. This is a very solid and valid point but then u have to dig deeper in the text. Some things that people seem to over look is the setting of the story. Allot of these stories have no father figures, or the male is a weak minded individual. You look at the little red robin hood, Hazel and Gretel, Rumple Stilskin, Beauty and the Beast, The Fisherman And His Wife, and Aschenputtle. All of these male figures that are in the stories are week minded or not there.
