How did colonialism change the everyday lives of Africa's indigenous populations?

The lives of indigenous people were completely turned around with the rise of imperialism. Although England did offer people an education, introduced technology, and brought medicines to Africa, many people would say that the negative effects that colonialism had on the indigenous people outweighed the positive ones by far. Not only were their customs and beliefs changed, but more often than not they were taken advantage of and practically forced to work for. In "Gentlemen of the Jungle" an example of this is when the court is said to be "impartial" but in reality they end up evicting the man out of his home unjustly and claiming it's the fair thing to do.
