Comparing Spielberg's Schindler’s List and Keneally's Schindler’s Ark

of Nazi camps. One might call him a reluctant savior and saint. And one might say that although he did indeed rescue over a thousand Jews by employing them in his factories, he was also rescuing himself from the likely event of deportation if his factory did not stay in operation. Nevertheless, he did gamble and risk his assets to keep the factory open and the Jewish people under his direction employed and avoid the certain death of the Nazi extermination camps.
Thomas Keneally created his novel from actual testimony of the survivors of Oskar Schindler's list of workers or Schindler's Jews as they were called. Most of Schindler's workers were educated, and came from varying professions such as teachers, professors, and artists. They were anything but factory workers. However, Schindler kept them alive and made them survivors of one of the history's most horrific tragedies. From the Author's Note, Keneally writes,

both rather glorified this man as a hero and savior of humanity, however, both the author and director did allow the readers and audience an insight into Schindler's faults and self-serving nature.
As the novel begins, Keneally writes,
