Creative Writing: Sycamore Street



The sun set slowly, as I made a bending left turn down Sycamore
Street. The steamy February day brought lots of people outside. Noise and
music filled the air along with the strong aroma of fresh marijuana leaves.
Kids running, playing, fighting and causing as much ruckus as possible.
Cutlasses, Regals and Delta 88�s cruised slowly down the smooth street,
with deep vibrations flowing from the trunk.
A heavyset older man stood firmly over the Bar-BQ grill, smiling in
admiration of his work. A group of younger men huddled around a 95 Cutlass
Supreme smoking and enjoying the sounds of the four pioneer sub-woofers

B.G.�s �Bling-Bling�

Everyone looked up and stared as the very noticeable squad car
crept by, hoping to shake the local people, but no one moved just cold
stares back, as if it was a showdown in the wild wild west. Junkies pasted
by with squeaking shopping carts filled with old telephones, hubcaps and
Styrofoam cups and plates. An elderly woman sat on her porch rocking back
and forth, surrounded by a crowd of wild cats waiting patiently for the
bread that sat in her lap. Mothers gathered around a old broken down
garage reminiscing and sipping 22 ounce Natural Lights.

A little girl with two pigtails laughed while having a conversation
with her baby doll. Another girl chased a puppy around a tree repeatly,
never really getting close to the dog just chasing it to have something to
do. Groups of boys gathered in the street to play a tackle football game on
the concrete, not concerned with injury, they just want to score a single
