This helped me to find five sources that bring different aspects to my question about capital punishment but also figuring out who agrees, disagrees or doesn't really have a based opinion on it. The University of Baltimore library, "Langsdale Library" was very beneficial to my research. I found most of my articles on their database and other just researching to research my initial question, "Is capital punishment an effective deterrent?"
The first article I located was from Death Penalty Info.Org, called "Do Executions lower Homicide rates" by Michael Radelet and Traci Lacock. Radelet and Lacock convinces there readers that capital punishment isn't an effective deterrent. It establishes the reason of no deterrence because there is no consistent evidence to support these claims.

Atwood states, "The overwhelming conclusion from years of deterrence studies is that the death penalty is, at best, no more of a deterrent than a sentence of life in prison" (Atwood, 2008). Atwood attempts to tell his readers that the notion for an eye for an eye, or a life for life is something society has never endorsed. The death penalty can't bring a life back, and making amends can never be made, even if the person being executed is by mistake.
