D-Day

He was the reason for World War II. At the end of the horrific war between the Allies and the Axis Powers, he put six million Jewish folks to death. Without Adolf Hitler, there more than likely would not have been another World War. D-Day would not have occurred if WWII did not happen. However, all of these gut wrenching events tell us the story of the American military. The invasion of Normandy, D-Day, is just one of our great accomplishments as a military force. This tactic took numerous years of planning and revising, had several important airborne assaults, and people think highly of it today in France.

on May 8, 1944, after the strenuous training, D-Day was calendared in for June 5th. Planning was complete and now they just had to follow through. As fate would have it, bad weather on June 4th delayed their plot until June 6th. Going into the invasion phase the Allies plans were simple. Capture, defend, and destroy. They needed to capture the Benouville-Ranville bridges intact, defend the crossings against armored counter-attacks, destroy the German artillery battery at Merville, and destroy the five bridges over Dives River to immobilize the German ground forces from the east.
When the weather settled, Major Howard had his group of gliders, the objects used to carry troops into battle, touch down in Normandy at 0016 hours (12:16 am) with an immediate encounter from the German 716th Infantry Division.
