Defining Courage

Courage is the ability to act with good intentions and motivations, even if the action taken puts you in a more difficult or harmful situation than not taking action may have left you. Courage is coming to the aid or defense of those weaker or less capable then you despite any problems or harm it may cause you.
One example of obvious courage could be observed when a fire fighter rushes into a burning building to save someone trapped inside. The firefighter willingly puts himself in a dangerous and potentially fatal situation in order to save the life of another human being. He could easily choose not to go in and never be in any danger himself, but he knows it is right to do everything ...

If a bully of any kind is picking on or harassing someone, it may be difficult to say something to make it stop if no one else will. This situation requires great social and moral courage because standing up and putting an end to the bullying is the right motivation, and the difficulties presented by doing this are that the bully and other peers might begin to isolate and harass you as well. Coming to the aid of the victim is the right thing to do and possible social difficulties in the future is just a consequence of doing the right thing in this circumstance.
