Keanu Reeves and Al Pacino star in the 1997 thriller, "Devils Advocate". Keanue Reeves plays the role of a man name Kevin Lomax, who is a no-name lawyer from Gainesville, Florida. He is lured to New York City by a large law firm who has heard about Kevin's success as a lawyer in the state of Florida. Kevin and his beautiful wife Mary Anne, played by Charlize Theron, quickly move to Manhattan, lured by luxuries such as a gorgeous apartment and other paid expenses.

when Milton (Al Pacino) says, "nobody on earth could do his bidding better than a well trained band of attorneys". Kevin is working for Milton, and the more pampered he becomes, so much the better for Milton. It wasn't until this point when I finally realized the true meaning behind the film.
The movie ends with the quote by Milton, "Vanity is definitely my favorite sin." He is talking about Kevin's vanity. Milton is telling Kevin that his clean cut, powerful lawyer look, is responsible for his wife's death. While Mary Anne was miserable in New York, Kevin refused to go back to Florida and loose his position in the firm.
