Dear diary,

20[th] December 1915

Tonight is a cold night. I am freezing. It has been like this for the past year. It's dark. Really dark. Almost too dark to see. I can't sleep. My left foot is killing me. A thousand bees are trying to sting their way out of my foot. And it hurts, it hurts like hell... Doctors say they might have to cut it. I am terrified dear diary. How could I have been so stupid? Was I blind? Was I deaf? Could I not see nor hear the storm coming towards me. Could I not ...

And it will come... Any day now, it will come. Every day, I have to get up and shoot people. Shoot innocent people that have been tricked as much as I have. They are also standing in their grave. A grave that I dug for them... And the hours. The long hours standing in the wet soil. It's the most disgusting thing in the whole wide world dear diary. I don't even know what I standing in. Is it mud, rats, insects? It hurt at first. But now my right foot can't feel anything. It's sleeping. It waits for the end of the war. But my left foot feels everything. And it hurts like hell.
