and an obsession with losing weight; almost as if it is their hobby. People always ask how a person can think their overweight when they so obviously aren�t. Well, it isn�t because that person necessarily thinks that their fat; rather, they have a distorted body image and so that�s when the obsession to lose weight comes into play. Looking up statistics on anorexia, I found some startling statistics about death and anorexia.
Approximately five to ten percent of people with anorexia die as a result of either starvation or suicide. Most of these deaths are sudden and are probably due to cardiac arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats), although some may also be due to coma caused by low blood sugar. The chances of death are highest in anorectic women who lose more than thirty percent of their original weight and in those who rely on purges to enhance their weight loss. (Anorexia).
