Then the carnivores decompose the waste products and the plants absorb the energy from the waste material left by the carnivores.
A food chain is different because it is a representation of what animals eat and what the animals that they eat. If this chain is disturbed by mass hunting, it could destroy the chain, and it could drive all creatures that are a part of the chain extinct.
