Wars are one of the most concerning social problem that humanity has to deal with. Unfortunately, over the past few years, many people have been witnesses of this. However, the most worrying problem related to this subject is the negative consequences of wars to people and environment. High death toll, economic and ecological damages are examples that prove this statement. Another important aspect that we have to take into account is the psychological and moral damages to those who have been in a war. to characters, the protagonist of the story, Krebs (who is a static, flat, realistic and stereotyped character), has an internal conflict, a fight happens within his mind, suffering from a psychological trauma caused by the war. He has changed, but everything in his town seems the same. In addition, there are other characters in the story: his mother, a common housewife who wants the best for her son, does not understand her son problems and tries to encourage him to live a normal life. Also, in the story is presented one of his sisters, name Helen and his father and the other sister who only are mentioned.

Generally speaking, the story refers to the negative effects of wars on people. The author through the main character's conflict and the events of the story is trying to convey that wartimes can be so shocking that it changes one completely. Furthermore, the story took place in the town of Oklahoma in Krebs 'home.
