Deliberately ending a life in order to relieve pain and suffering, this is the practice known as euthanasia. Suicide is not a crime in Canada but assisted suicide is illegal. The reason it is illegal is to prevent people from assisting those that are not mentally capable of making their own decision. If assistance in committing suicide were to be decriminalized the value that society places on human life might be decreased. Well, at least that is what law makers believe. Many others including myself disagree. and when you are not able to value life because you are terminally ill you should have the right to be assisted in suicide. The government should legalize euthanasia and regulate the death system. By doing this the government can help relieve the pain of many people who are suffering or know that they have a disease that will leave them terminally ill, and at the same time regulate the whole operation. The government and family can decide whether someone who is not able to make their own decision should be put to death or not. This way both the regulators and families can help decide for the person who is mentally ill. People who are ill but still able to function mentally can also be helped if they consent to euthanasia. This way the government, the ill person, and the family are satisfied.
Euthanasia can also be beneficial if the ill person does not want to leave a financial burden upon his/her family. This would help the family because they would not have to worry about any ...
