The treaty of Versailles caused a reaction of horror and outrage to the Germans. They were being forced to accept a harsh treaty without any choice or even a comment. Ebert was in an extremely difficult position. So he decided to accept the treaty of Versailles� terms. When Ebert agreed to sign the treaty the Germans were furious, they were pleased the war had ended but they didn�t want humiliation.
