Fences

During the early 1950�s, African American were treated unfairly by whites. African Americans were considered to be weaker minded, mainly because at the time whites were controlling nearly there every action. During the 1950's, African American's had no rights to do anything they desired due to segregation laws. African Americans who were living during this time period were living painful, and miserable lives. African American men who were trying to support their families faced many financial struggles. Men were trying to maintain their roles in their families as the "protectors", but in order to maintain that role, black men had to work twice as hard as white men.
