The Limits Of Creation

The characters of both Victor and the monster are drastically different, but ironically, they become the same. Victor started out as a young kid who was innocent and happy, but he grows into a vengeful and lonely man after giving life to the monster. You could say that Victor was a coward because he never took responsibility for the monster. He was scared of the monster and he always tried to forget or run away from the problems the monster would cause. The monster killed members of Victor's family and close family friends, yet he did nothing to help prevent it.

was executed, and Victor sees the monster in the Swiss Alps. Victor talks to the monster and agrees to make a woman for him. He doesn't finish making the woman monster, and this angered the monster even more. "Frankenstein! You belong then to my enemy--to him towards whom I have Sworn eternal revenge; you shall be my first victim." (Shelly, 157) This quote is important because this is the moment where the monster decides it will kill William. Victor could have prevented the horrible things that happened if he would have just taken responsibility for the monster.

"The nearer I approached to your habitation, the more deeply did I feel the spirit of revenge enkindled in my heart."(Hogsette 532) This quote shows how determined the monster was to make Victor's life miserable. Victor knew the monster would not go back on his word, but he just ignored it. It caused the death of his wife and of his dad, who died from grieving for Elizabeth.
