The Illiad by Homer is a story about the wrath of a mighty warrior,
Archilles. [Topic Sentence #1]: He displays the characteristics or a tragic
hero in that he enjoys a great reputation, [Topic Sentence #2]: he gives
into his tragic flaw, and [Topic Sentence #3]: he undergoes a change that
reflects his moral growth.
[Discussion of his reputation]: Archilles' pride has made him a wrathful
person filled with anger and rage that sets him apart. He only felt "alive"
when fighting. His reputation was more important to him more than anything
else and he gave up much for it. This shows that he is more concerned about
he looks to others by portraying himself as a mighty warrior and great

change under any circumstances and that what is true today may change
tomorrow. Archilles is more of a hero by showing compassion in that King
Priam is more respectful of him because he returns Hector's body and
actually grieves with him [Example]. This shows that hateful Archilles has
a softer side and is vulnerable and shows this hidden part of himself to
the slain Hector's father [Example]. According to Greek heroic code it
would seem he might slay King Priam as well, but instead Archilles gives
into his tragic flaw and undergoes a moral shifting of his soul. This story
shows how people can change regardless of how hard-hearted they may find
themselves. Compassion can be mustered up in all of us. ...
