He was in the frame of mind to take action after he thought of the play within the play, and then he distracted himself with his inner thoughts. An imbalance between thought and action gives unsuccessful results.

4-Shakespeare suggests that while taking action is important, thinking things gives better results when the plan is performed. For example, He successfully formulates a well thought out strategy to validate that Claudius did, in fact, kill his father. Claudius's reaction to the play shows the success of Hamlet's plan. Hamlet then has reasons to revenge on Claudius. It illustrates the balance of thought with action.
