Mass Media has played a large role in influencing young girls for the past few decades since television has been around. Research has shown this can affect a child socially, psychologically, and physically by those characters such as the Disney Princesses. In the article “What’s Wrong with Cinderella?” written by Peggy Orenstein, one mother explores the possible consequences that mass-marketed, princess-themed products have on vulnerable, young girls. In her article “What's Wrong with Cinderella,” Peggy Orenstein discusses the recent "princess" craze that has spread amongst young girls, and how this trend could affect their personality later on. Orenstein states that there has been an enormous growth in the commercialization and idolization of princesses by Disney and other companies, which has led to as the tremendous amount of toys that are sold to girls being princess-themed. The issue with this is that the idea of being a princess causes young girls to try and be "perfect" when they grow up.
