Health Of Our Nation

In the United States, community health has been a rapidly growing field of public health and is concerned with the study and improvement of the overall health aspects of the community. This is due to the abundance of health issues that surround this nation and its mortality. According to a 2003 PRC National Health Survey, these issues vary from tobacco, to diet and activity patterns, alcohol, behavior, motor vehicles, and illicit use of drugs. In this paper, I am briefly going to discuss and focus on some of these concerns in our community.

Moreover, Obesity has been linked to several diseases and chronic conditions that are difficult or impossible to treat today, such as diabetes, heart disease, colon cancer, and high blood pressure. These often are fatal and increase mortality rates and decrease the life span of many communities across our nation.
Another destructive factor of our nation is the common substance abuse and its plethora of related problems. These are considered among society�s most prevalent social and health issues. According to the survey, alcohol-related deaths account for around 100,000 each year in the United States. And in 1995, the economic cost of alcohol and drug abuse was $276 billion.
