Hip hop dancers are called break dancers due to Hercs break-beat dejaying. A man named Afrika Bambaataa founded the Zulu Nation. It was a confederation of street-dance crews, graffiti artists and rap musicians leading to less violence.

Hip hop has influenced parts around the world. The East coast and West coast both had different ideas of how to hip hop dance. They both blended together and created was is now known as hip hop. It changed how people danced by popping, locking and breaking.

It influenced the popularity of DJs. Previously dance was done on the basketball court or anywhere they wanted to set the location. Today they are now done also on stage and performance venues were made for audiences to view.
