English is the most common language in the world. It is also the second most spoken language in the world. The knowledge of English, known as the world language, provides advantages for many of us. Therefore, English education is provided in many countries around the world. At this point, a controversial question comes to mind because the teacher is the most important factor in education. Who is better at teaching English? A native English speaking teacher or non-native English speaking teacher? Both options have their own advantages and disadvantages from different angles, so let's evaluate.

English speaking teacher can be a more logical choice when evaluated academically. Because, unlike a native English speaking teacher a non-native English speaking teacher studied all grammar rules in depth while learning English. Having linguistic competence in a language does not automatically make one a good teacher. In contrast, NNESTs' experience of learning English as an additional language enables them to be good learner models (Cook, 2005; Medgyes, 1992, 1994) and they can teach language learning strategies more effectively (Medgyes, 1994). But, when it comes to speaking English fluently, pronouncing words correctly and practicing what you have learned so far with all aspects, a native English speaking teacher is better without doubt. Because a native English speaking teacher speaks English more effectively and more consistently during the lesson.
