The stakeholders that corporations contribute to as part of CSR include those stakeholders that fall under the "Three P's": customers, employees, investors, suppliers, government, and competitors. The "Three P" concept was introduced in 2009 with the goal of corporations contributing to the welfare of society, ensuring the sustainability of the environment, and making a profit all at the same time.
There have been several studies that show that there is a strong positive relationship between CSR and either firm value or profitability. But there has also been other research that suggests that that relationship is either very weak or not even existent at all. The article then discusses a study that was done on 30 corporations with data being collected from 2007 to 2009. This study concludes that there is no significant relationship between CSR and profitability nor CSR and firm value.
