Autism is a developmental disorder which can be more generally classified under the category of Autism Spectrum Disorders. Autism Spectrum Disorder not only includes individuals with autism, but also individuals with Asperger�s Syndrome and pervasive developmental disorder. These disorders are generally characterized by impairments in social interaction, communication, and participation in repetitive behaviors. It is also common for children with autism to show unusual eating behaviors.
