Indian Boarding Schools: �Kill the Indian and Save the Man�

Introduction

In the late 1800�s the US government began the Indian Boarding Schools in America. The goal was the same as always but the method was a faster, more affective way to �kill� the Indian language and culture and �save� the man within him to be civilized and live like the white man. To some extent the barding schools did achieve a degree of assimilation, but in large part they did not �kill� the Indian.
