Fever Pitch is a story about the life of a football fan. However, once a person starts reading this book, s/he realizes how wrong that statement can be. This book is not just about what it is to be a fan; this book is about what it is to grow up loving something, and how that something can gradually become everything a person is. Nick Hornby shows the world he not just loves football, but that football is his identity. The Arsenal football stadium is his home, and the outcomes of their football games are, to him, life or death. Nevertheless, one would probably never get that idea in its fullness if it wasn�t for this books narration style. There�s a buildup of events, of emotions, of love from Nick to football that must be shown in order for it to make sense.
