Christianity vs. Islam

Two of the more popular religions in society today are Christianity and Islam. The two religions have some similarities but also contrast each other as well. Both religions may raise a level of curiosity. Although The Bible and Qur�an may appear to be duplicates of each other, the literature reads different; both religions have a unique set of beliefs and the way they operate. Reading through The Bible and Qur�an was an enlightening experience for me because of the little knowledge I had of both religions. Qur�an and The Bible, there is a story of the creation of man. Similarly, each story is persistent of the concept of man being created by a dominant force. Man is made from mud in the Qur�an while he is created from dust in The Bible. Therefore, each of the creation accounts is parallel to one another in the sense that man is created out of earth by a powerful being.
Although the creation accounts in Christianity and Islam share similarities, they also share differences. Sin is a concept used in each religion that contradicts each other. The Bible shares a story of Original Sin which speaks of Adam and Eve. Eve is instructed to not eat fruit from a particular tree. She disobeys the higher being and according to The Bible, this is where the idea of Original Sin stems from. Meanwhile the Qur�an has no reference to Original Sin or disobedience of eating from a tree. However, the Qur�an does refer to an instance of Man and Woman in its creation.
