Italian Culture

For this assignment I chose the Italian culture as one that I know about, I knew some but I did have to do some research as well to learn more. One thing that is very important to know is that first impressions are hugely important to Italians. This involves the way you dress and how you carry yourself. Style of dress is important and you would probably be judged first and foremost on this. The other important part of the first impression is coming off as a respectable and considerate person.
Another important thing to understand is that Italian people are affectionate in public, it is common to see men greeting by kissing on both cheeks and for both men and women to walk arm in arm. ...

in 1970, Italy's divorce rate is still much lower than that of other industrialized nations such as France, England, and the United States.
Education and sports are an important aspect of the Italian culture. Elementary education is considered the most progressive and innovative in the world; in 1990 Italy had a literacy rate of about 97 percent. Italians are passionate about sports, especially soccer. The fanaticism surrounding this sport has caused major riots in which people have died. Some fans have had heart attacks while watching games at home. Traffic jams are common on Sunday afternoons, which is when the games are played.
An interesting thing that I found are aspects of gift giving etiquette, some of these are:

. Do not give chrysanthemums as they are used at funerals.
. Do not give red flowers as they indicate secrecy.
