Janis Joplin was one of the most inspired, unpredictable and talented singers in the world of music. She achieved a lot of things for her short life. Janis Joplin will always be remembered for the way she introduced blues and rock, for her voice which became recognizable by people from all over the world, for her personal style which opened doors for a lot of female rock singers. On October 4, 1970 Janis died of a heroin overdose in her room of the Landmark Motor Hotel in Los Angeles." After she mainlined the drug she was able to leave her room, walk to the lobby, ask the desk clerk to change a five-dollar bill so she could spend 50 cents on a pack of cigarettes, pull the rigid knob on the cigarette machine, return to her room and remove some of her clothes.
