Legalizing Marijuana

Marijuana has been a very controversial topic in the United States for many years now. From jail time for dealers, to medicinal marijuana beginning to arrive on the scene in California, people have many alternative opinions. I believe that marijuana should be legalized because its effects are less detrimental to the human body than those of alcohol or tobacco, but the legality of the substances begs to differ. Along with not being as harmful to your body as other legal substances such as alcohol or tobacco, the legalizing of marijuana would allow the use of hemp as a raw material, which would in turn generate tax dollars to benefit our nation.

When a substance can mess a person up so much that they cannot even name who the current President of the United States is can be legal, how exactly is marijuana not? Marijuana does not mess with your mind or impair your judgement. While coroners constantly find alcohol in dead people's systems that attributed to their untimely deaths, they never find marijuana in their system which was the main reason for the death occurring.
Marijuana is unlike any other drug in the fact that it is all natural. It grows out of the ground just like flowers, fruits, and vegetables.
