His thirsty brain processed every detail that came into his eye in its most original form and, without the restrictions of common sense of the 1400s, he drew courageous conclusions, many of which turned out to be correct. In the 15th century, Leonardo already used a new systematic, descriptive method of natural science that eventually became the major scientific method in the 19th century.
He used this method on many fields of science, including anatomy. Motivated by curiosity in a human's inner structures, he obtained permission to dissect human bodies. He observed and he became a skilled anatomist. An example amongst other numerous examples of discoveries that he made is the workings of the human eye.
