Evil lies beneath the surface of all humans. In a civilized society, the evil sector of us is usually covered up by different factors. However, it releases itself when this civilization is gone. Such situation can be easily seen in this novel. The event how the conch loses it power, and the break up in the tribe, clearly states this fact. Furthermore, it is seen how Jack had changed from being a regular schoolboy, to a bloody killing machine. Therefore, it is reasonable to say that evil lie in every human.

Furthermore, looking at how Jack had changed it clearly states that evil is present in all. As an example, Jack had changed totally from what used to be a regular boy, into total savagery. If without landing in this topical island, I believe he would not have changed, or at least not as extreme. Therefore, with this in mind, you can see how evil is waiting for the chance to be released by one.

As for conclusion, evil is certainly present for everyone. The fact how the conch loses its power, the breaking up between the tribe, and the extreme change in Jack's personality, strong reflex this point.
