Maya Angelou's �No Loser No Weeper�

In Maya�s Angelou �No Loser No Weeper�, one of her many poems, she describes the emotional state she endured growing up in the 1920�s during the Great Depression. Because of the suffering that she endured as an African American during the 1920�s, Angelou�s life made her far more than a loser or weeper instead she would be label as a poet, an actor, teacher, playwright, dancer, and survivor. In order to understand her success, we must first understand her background.
Maya Angelou grew up with her grandmother in Stamps Arkansas, along with her brother. Angelou has experienced a lot of negative things in her life: the Great De-pression, her parents� deaths, racism, being raped at age eight, ...

12), we gather that something as small and worthless as a dime would make Angelou wish that she was dead. This remark signifies that the trauma in her life just bought thoughts of suicide. According to Compton�s Interactive Encyclopedia most suicides oc-cur when the bonds between an individual and society are broken.
She also explains how she lost a �doll once and cried for a week ,the doll could open her eyes and do all but speak�(Angelou 12). This part of the poem reminded us of an incident that happen to her when she was 8 years old. A friend of the family raped her. She then mentioned �it to her brother, and a couple of days later the guy was found dead�(Brown 25). Because of this Angelou stopped speaking and didn�t speak for five years(Brown 25).Even presently she is known not to speak when she is depressed. So she lost her doll and can do everything but speak. This is example in which I believe she was depress.
