Medical marijuana is a highly debated political issue; over a half dozen U.S. states have enacted legislature legalizing marijuana thus defying federal law. For the purpose of my research paper I wanted to learn more about this particular health issue and how it is managed in the state of California. I have gathered resources from published articles, organizational websites, public health websites and a documentary video from A & E television to assist in my analysis for the purpose of the research paper. Each resource varied in its informational content as some gave more particulars and if you carefully looked at each one you can pick which side of the political fence the author favors. In addition, these federal actions are taking place as local Los Angeles officials and activists "gear up for a ballot measure fight over the fate of a recent city ban on dispensaries". A councilman named Jose Hulzar supports the ban as he further encourages state officials "to create a better way of providing access for seriously ill patients while removing the scores of profiteers and recreational users who currently dominate the market".
