My Friend T.W.


T.W. Gerron and I met in the fifth grade when I first came to Cooper High School. We weren�t in the same home room, but we were friends from the get go. I met him on the soccer field my first morning. I will never forget it because he outran me to score the winning goal. When the bell rang, thus ending the game, he caught up to me and said, �I thought you might catch me there for a second, but just for a second.� I liked him from the start. We walked into the building together and talked about where I was from and made whatever kind of small talk fifth graders make. The next time I saw him was recess, once again on the soccer field. are you sure your not Irish? Nevertheless, he has always been and still is one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. This is the type of kid who made A�s in every class and couldn�t wait to get home and do his homework. (The one area we differ in.)
