you can imagine, immigrating here is not always accessible to all types of individuals. Some choose to be admitted into the U.S legally. Others attempt to cross the borders into America illegally. Regardless of the method used to enter the U.S, most of the recipients have one thing in common, to find a better way of life, something that is obtainable in the United States for both illegal and legal immigrants.

Let's start by examining some of the historical events that helped shape immigration in the United States. "During the 17[th] to the beginning of the 19[th] century marked the largest movement of immigration to America" (Diner). The immigrant settlers came from a wide array of countries.
