There are two basic kinds of motion. If an object moves at a constant speed, covering the same distance each second without changing direction this is called uniformed motion. If the speed or direction of the object changes, then it is in accelerated motion.
Newton�s First Law of Motion states that an object in motion tends to stay in motion. The law also states that an object at rest tends to stay at rest. This tendency to continue at rest or continue in motion is called inertia. A force ( a push or pull ) must be used to put a object at rest, put an object into motion, to stop a moving object, or change its motion while it is moving.

Any change in an object�s speed is called acceleration. An increase in speed is called positive acceleration, while a decrease in speed is called negative acceleration, or deceleration. Acceleration can also mean a change in direction as well as in speed. A force is needed to change the direction of an object, so a change in force can also mean a change in direction as well as a change in speed. According to Newton�s Second Law of Motion, the change in direction of a moving object depends on the applied force.
The amount of acceleration depends on the object�s weight. A lighter object will accelerate more than a heavier object. Newton�s Second Law of Motion says that a given force accelerates a small mass more than it does a larger mass.
Finally, in Newton�s Third Law of Motion, every action is accompanied by a response, or a reaction. Action and reaction are involved in every motion. The force, mass, and acceleration involved in any motion are ...
