The Oedipus myth is where there is this oracle that tells a king that he will have a son that will kill him and marry his wife. So this king is concerned when she is going to have a baby and he tells her to kill the baby! Of course she can�t do it so she gives her son to a Shepard. This Shepard doesn�t want him and gives him to another Shepard. This Shepard names him Oedipus and raises him. Oedipus then grows up talks to an oracle that tells him that he will kill his father and marry his mother. Then he comes along this sphinx that says answer my riddle. be valid because I actually see it somewhat happening. When I was a little girl I remember I stayed with my mom all day long at home and when my dad would get home I would be so excited! I always thought I was more excited to see him because I just didn�t get to spend as much time with him like I did with my mom. But, it could subconsciously be due to this Oedipal complex theory. Even now I can see this happening deep down subconsciously. For example, I get into fights with my mom all of the time but if my dad ever tells me to do something I do it right away with no questions asked. Could it be that I fight with my mom because I want to get rid of her? I am not quite sure. This theory is a bit of a stretch for me but it is possible.
