On October 13, 2014, Dr. Sarah Conly gave her speech on her recently published book �Justifying Coercive Paternalism�. She opened strongly, with a warm greeting to her audience, and briefed listeners in on her book giving her perspective whether we as women should be allowed to have as many children as we want in the United States. Knowing that everyone would not have the same opinion on this subject, her key arguments had to be sound and logical.

children. Drawing attention to our rapidly increasing population she touches on the consumption of necessary fossil fuels (gas), the over utilization of top soil, and our limited water supply. Our population also plays a role in the climate changes. Fumes from cars (traffic), and other chemicals we use on a daily basis are deteriorating the ozone layer that protects us from the sun�s harmful UV rays.

While Dr. Conly brought up valid points to support her opinion, how she delivered this message would affect the audience�s decision, whether to agree with her or disagree. Throughout her speech she used many different strategies to gain the listeners attention, and to keep them interested in what she was saying. Thus making her seem well educated on this topic. After all she did write an entire book about it, right?
