The key differences between microkernel and exokernel is that microkernel delivers the code into servers which then applications will be denied permission for modifying but exokernel takes the functionality and puts it into unprivileged libraries. VM on the other hand is is emulated copy of an OS structure. Modern windows systems provides mainframe-equivalent functionality through virtualization that you can run multiple operating systems in the main frame and it provides management tools and resource reservation for each system which runs on it. It provides monitoring for uptime, storage memory. VMWare�s virtualization contains control program and a single-user operating system.
